Triple H to fire 5-time World Champion after major controversy at WWE Clash at the Castle? Possibility explored

WWE conducted yet another historic premium live event under Triple H’s leadership as Clash at the Castle: Scotland set the record for the largest arena gate in the company’s history. While the PLE was filled with exciting matches and unpredictable results, the ending left a sour taste in the mouths of many.

Drew McIntyre took on Damian Priest in the main event of Clash at the Castle: Scotland with the World Heavyweight Championship on the line. The Scottish Warrior looked set to capture the gold in front of his home fans but CM Punk came disguised as a referee to cost him the title.

People were furious with Punk’s actions as the Second City Saint once again cost McIntyre his big moment. WWE commentator Wade Barrett even called for his firing, stating that what we witnessed at Clash at the Castle: Scotland was the biggest ‘scre*job’ in pro wrestling history.

The controversy provides WWE with a unique opportunity to make the five-time former World Champion an even bigger star. The Best in the World has always worked well as an anti-hero and Triple H firing him for his actions could firmly establish the former as that. He could then return once again to interfere in Drew’s match, adding further layers to their ongoing storyline.

WWE CCO Triple H shared his honest thoughts on working with CM Punk
CM Punk returned to WWE at Survivor Series: Wargames last year, after leaving the company on a sour note in 2014. The Second City Saint’s controversy-ridden stint with AEW had many worried about something similar happening in the Stamford-based promotion as well. However, that has not been the case yet.

Triple H shared his thoughts on working with the Chicago-native star during the post-Clash at the Castle interview, stating that a lot had changed since they last worked together.

CM Punk Explains Why He Never Sold His Own Ring Gear - WrestleZone

“I cannot tell you how happy I am to have him back. I cannot tell you how exciting it is for me to see the Phil Brooks [CM Punk] that I wanted to see then. While maybe my efforts to get that were taken wrong and it’s what led to friction, I always knew the Phil Brooks that I see today was inside there, just couldn’t express it in the right way. So, as much as this has changed, he has changed. And I gotta tell you, it’s amazing. I’m excited, I’m excited for the future and I’m excited to not just work with him but just to be around him,” said Triple H.
CM Punk suffered an injury in his very first match after returning to WWE, during the Men’s Royal Rumble Match, earlier this year. However, he is expected to return to action soon and will be providing an update on the upcoming episode of SmackDown.
