Rossy Ogawa used to run the STARDOM promotion in Japan until he was fired earlier in 2024. Ogawa would go on to launch the Marigold Wrestling promotion in April 2024 and the company has already held its first event in May.

Former Stardom standout wrestler Giulia helped launch the Marigold promotion. Giulia is expected to start with WWE this summer after she recovers from an arm injury. Giulia was considered a coveted free agent by WWE’s Chief Content Officer Paul “Triple H” Levesque, who was determined to sign her to the company.

In an interview with NumberWeb, Ogawa revealed that Triple H was very helpful in terms of encouraging him to break away from Stardom and launch the Marigold promotion.

“Triple H told me, ‘I want to help you with whatever you want to do, whether it’s with Stardom or as a solo artist.’ He gave me the push I needed.”

“I was starting to feel uncomfortable at Stardom… I couldn’t show my true potential. I was like a decoration, told to just sit here.”

At the NXT Stand & Deliver PLE during WrestleMania 40 weekend, Ogawa and Giulia were shown at ringside watching the show. After Giulia starts with WWE, she is expected to still appear at some Marigold events as well.

Triple H Claims WWE Are Their Own Competition
While some people believe that there is a “wrestling war” going on between WWE and All Elite Wrestling, Triple H doesn’t believe that. According to comments he made in April, Triple H thinks that WWE is competing against itself.

“Right now, we’re up against ourselves. We’re up against the Attitude Era, we’re up against the Ruthless Aggression era, whatever you want to call it. The best of the absolute best of WWE…that’s what we’re working against.”

During the Attitude Era and Ruthless Aggression Era, Triple H was a main event level wrestler. Now he’s in a different role as the man running the company.
