WWE has tried and seemingly failed to turn former tag team champions, The Street Profits, heel on SmackDown. A wrestling veteran has explained why that direction would never work for Montez Ford and Angelo Dawkins.

The Street Profits allied with Bobby Lashley and later included B-Fab to form a heel faction. However, the fans only cheered for the group and refused to acknowledge them as the villains on the blue brand. As a result, Lashley and co quietly turned face but now face the predicament of growing stale.

Wrestling veteran Dutch Mantell discussed The Street Profits’ recent run on the latest edition of Sportskeeda Wrestling’s SmackTalk. He highlighted that fans are the ultimate decider of what gets over and they won’t accept The Street Profits as heels on WWE SmackDown. He was quoted as saying:

“No, you can’t turn that team heel, the people are not going to go for it. They are the arbiters of whether anything is going to get over. And they like that team and you’re not going to turn heel.”

Mantell also discussed how Bobby Lashley’s injury has hurt the group. He argued that a potential on-screen attack on The All Mighty would have helped Ford and Dawkins in the long run by setting up a storyline. Mantell criticized the lack of storylines for the popular tag team and said:

“If he was hurt on screen, now the bad guys, the heel would have something to cheat for. Isolate him and beat him up. You know what I think they are? I think they are holding pattern.”

The Street Profits demanded a piece of The Bloodline on WWE SmackDown
Montez Ford and Angelo Dawkins made a brief appearance on SmackDown this week alongside B-Fab. They approached General Manager Nick Aldis backstage and demanded they get a match against The Bloodline in light of their recent altercations on the blue brand.

Aldis was forced to deny them the opportunity as he had granted Solo Sikoa a time slot for his controversial Bloodline Acknowledgment ceremony. However, the segment saw Pretty Deadly return on SmackDown and pitch a musical. The conversation led to The Street Profits demanding a match against Pretty Deadly and the two teams are likely to lock horns on WWE SmackDown next week.
