Adele has shared her love for star of the moment Chappell Roan, calling her “spectacular”.

The singer was performing last night (August 14) in Munich as part of her residency in the city when she shouted out Roan.

“Chappell Roan is her name, yes?” she told the crowd, adding: “I heard a song a little while ago at my birthday, and I loved it, and it was one of my friend’s playlists. And then, I went down a rabbit hole on Monday. All day long.”

Adele then went on: “She is spectacular, and it turns out, she’s not just got one song. She’s got, like, seven fucking brilliant songs. I think she’s absolutely amazing. I’m very excited for her, but my friend also said she’s a bit scared. So, do what you gotta do, baby girl, but you’re phenomenal. Anyway, that’s all I’ve done this week is discover Chappell Roan.”

She’s also keeping her eye on UK talent too, having recently hailed Rachel Chinouriri as “absolutely amazing”.

Adele’s residency finishes this month, with remaining shows on August 16, 23, 24, 30 and 31. Last month, the singer revealed that she has no plans of making new music anytime soon and says a break is on the cards when her current shows end.

“I miss everything about before I was famous, I think probably being anonymous the most,” she said. “I don’t like being famous. I love that I get to make music all the time whenever I want and people are receptive to it and like it, because that’s pretty unimaginable… that never happens to people.

“But, the fame side of it, I absolutely hate and I miss everything about before all of this had happened. The fact that people are even interested in my voice and my songs is pretty wild, I don’t think it ever gets normal, you know? So it’s worth it… [it’s just finding] the balance.”
