French journalist Thierry Moreau’s recent tweet suggests that I’m Alive singer Céline Dion is reportedly set to perform at the opening ceremony of the Paris Olympics alongside Lady Gaga on July 26, 2024.

The journalist’s tweet on July 24, 2024, mentions that Lady Gaga and Dion rehearsed La vie en rose by Edith Piaf as a duet and that the Power of Love singer will be dressed by Dior in a pink and black feather cape.

According to Variety, the possibility of Céline Dion performing at the opening ceremony of the Paris Olympics was fuelled by the singer’s arrival at the Royal Monceau Hotel near Champs-Élysées, where the second rumored headliner, Lady Gaga, is staying.

Moreover, the French sports minister, Amélie Oudéa-Castéra, made an appearance on the set of the show Bonjour la Matinale, wherein she gave a statement on Céline Dion’s presence in Paris, stating:

“You’ve seen that she was in Paris, it’s not a coincidence”
Moreover, the French sports minister responded to questions of whether Dion would be performing at the opening ceremony of the Paris Olympics by stating that there were a “multitude of possible roles in an opening ceremony”.

Céline Dion’s possible performance at the opening ceremony of the Paris Olympics will also mark the singer’s return to performing after 2022. She halted her touring schedule and stepped away from the spotlight after her diagnosis of Stiff Person Syndrome in December 2022.

However, in an interview with Vogue France in April 2022, the singer commented on her comeback to the big stage after her diagnosis. She said that she can’t answer exactly when she’ll start performing, given she’s been confused between being ready and not ready for the last four years.

Céline Dion also told the publication:

“It’s morally hard to live from day to day. It’s hard, I’m working very hard and tomorrow will be even harder. Tomorrow is another day. But there’s one thing that will never stop, and that’s the will. It’s the passion. It’s the dream. It’s the determination.”

In her caption, the singer mentioned that every time she returns to Paris, she is reminded of the beauty and joy to be experienced in the world. She also mentioned that she loves Paris and is “so happy to be back.”
