Triple H confirms injury to major WWE star changed WrestleMania plans

Triple H has confirmed that an injury to a major WWE Superstar earlier this year altered plans for WrestleMania XL. This year’s ‘Mania aired in April from Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia.

The Second City Saint made his surprise return to Stamford-based promotion at last year’s Survivor Series: WarGames. In the weeks following his return, he was confronted by then-World Heavyweight Champion Seth Rollins, teasing a match. However, the former AEW star tore his triceps in his first televised WWE match at Royal Rumble in January and still has not returned to the ring.

WWE released its WrestleMania XL: Behind the Curtain documentary today on YouTube. During the documentary, Chief Content Officer Triple H discussed CM Punk’s untimely injury.

“It changes everything. Now, both title matches on the men’s side are sort of up in the air. So, as we are starting to look at The Rock and Cody (Rhodes) thing, we’ve got to look at the Seth thing. So Seth kind of fits into that. If you sort of relax, and let the process take place, something magical will come out of this chaos,” said Triple H.

Seth Rollins wound up defending his World Heavyweight Championship against Drew McIntyre in the opening match of Night Two of WrestleMania XL. McIntyre won the title, but Damian Priest cashed in his MITB contract on The Scottish Warrior to become the new champion minutes later at The Show of Shows.

Bill Apter claims The Wyatt Sicks goes against Triple H’s version of WWE
Legendary wrestling journalist Bill Apter has been critical of The Wyatt Sicks faction so far and feels it goes against what Triple H has established as his vision for WWE television.

Triple H is the company

Speaking on Sportskeeda’s The Wrestling Time Machine podcast, Bill Apter noted that the promotion has been pushing pro wrestling since The King of Kings gained power in the company. However, he claimed that The Wyatt Sicks could go against that vision, which has left some fans wondering what was going on.

“They’re pushing pro wrestling,” Apter said. “Since Triple H took over, they’re pushing pro wrestling, and now they have somebody come out scaring Michael Cole with a VHS tape and going like, ‘Watch this.’ And the fans that are watching this that have been educated now for the past few months of pro wrestling are going like, ‘What the heck are they doing?'”
