3-time WWE champion details why he’s no longer best friends with Randy Orton

Randy Orton has dominated WWE for decades, as the third-generation star is a first-ballot future Hall of Famer in the coming years. Recently, former Hardcore Champion Maven opened up on why he’s no longer best friends with The Viper after they spent time together on the road.

In 2001, Maven Huffman started his journey at the Stamford-based promotion as he worked his way through the developmental brand at the time. He eventually crossed paths with Randy Orton and for a while, they ended up on Monday Night RAW.

In Maven’s recent video on YouTube, the star revealed how he considered Randy Orton one of his best friends in WWE. Huffman also explained why the two stopped being friends after the former Hardcore Champion was released from the company in 2005.

“Once my release came through in 2005, we would stay in touch immediately after and actually he [Randy Orton] took a trip and came and stayed in my house for a few days. We hung out, we went to the gym, we worked out together, and we just continued that bond. Following that we would gradually over time lose contact and the reason is when two people are going in opposite directions it just happens sometimes,” Huffman said.

Maven had nothing but kind words for the star:

“I don’t believe that my wrestling career would’ve been as enjoyable if not for the time that I spent with Randy [Orton]. I’m happy that he’s doing well. I’m extremely honored to have shared the road with him. I will always wish nothing but the best for him.” [From 17:54 to 18:11]

Randy Orton's Status For WWE Money In The Bank - YouTube

Randy Orton is set to compete at WWE Money in the Bank 2024
Randy Orton has been in the best shape of his career after he returned from a career-threatening injury in November 2023. Moreover, The Viper has not missed any premium live events for WWE, as he was on the bench for nearly two years.

Sadly, the 14-time World Champion has lost in every appearance at the premium live events since his return. Apart from making a cameo alongside Kevin Owens in Scotland, WWE booked The Viper in a match under different stipulations.

In less than eight days at Money in the Bank, Randy Orton will team up with Kevin Owens and Cody Rhodes to take on Solo Sikoa’s Bloodline in a Six-Man Tag Team match in Toronto, Canada.
